Eton FR160 Hybrid Radio

The Eton FR160 is a very snazzy little eco radio packed with lots functions.

It has two ways to power it, either by cranking its dynamo handle, or through it photovoltaic solar panel.

When you crank the handle for just 90 seconds, it will generate enough power to keep the radio running for 30-40 minutes on low to mid volume.

If you leave the radio in a sunny location, the suns rays will begin to charge the internal battery. If you leave the radio in the sun all day, it will store enough energy to run for 3 to 5 hours after the sun goes down.

The radio can also run directly from sunlight. This means even if the radio is totally flat, just place it in direct sunlight, and it will covert the suns rays into music immediately!

The radio has AM and FM channels, and two short wave frequencies too. Because of the units external aerial, it has excellent reception.  Over the years, we have found this radio outperforms any others in it class, especially compared to other eco radios that use in-built aerials.

The unit also features an integrated torch using 3 LED's, so is super bright, and a USB socket for charging phones in an emergency.

The USB socket is linked to the crank handle, so when you have a device connected and crank the handle, the power goes directly into your phone instead of the radio. 

 

 

In theory you could fully charge a phone like this, but in reality we wouldn't suggest it as it would take a while! It is however perfect for a little bit of juice if your phone ran out when you really needed it!
